Quality Product Testing at Kayu Lapis Indonesia

A quality wood product has to go through extensive testing. There are various wood product tests, each corresponding to the qualities of wood. This also applies to wood products from Kayu Lapis Indonesia (KLI).

Kayu Lapis Indonesia applies many tests to its wood products to preserve their quality. With various testing, Kayu Lapis Indonesia’s wood has a high quality and is safe for use, even for newborns and children.

1. Durability Test

Starting from the wood’s most basic and simplest feature, KLI applies durability tests to all of its products. Weather and boil proof (WBP) plywood undergoes a test against heat durability. Marine plywood’s glue’s adhesive strength is tested by pressuring, boiling, and cooling it into water. The products also go through failure tests. This test is done to measure failure in between the joints of the plywood. This wood product test shows the world-renowned durability of KLI’s wood products.

2. Emission Test

Wood products can emit harmful substances that can cause problems to the human body. This substance is emitted both naturally (due to the wood’s natural composition) and by the wood glue. 

Emission test is a wood product test done to check whether the emission is at a manageable level.

Kayu Lapis Indonesia’s wood products are safe to the eyes and lungs because the toxin emitted from the wood is at minimum level. 

This is proven by the emission test, where the wood product is soaked in distilled water for 24 hours, then the water is boiled for several hours. Through the CARB test and JAS test, it can be seen that KLI’s wood products emit minimum emission.

This is also due to KLI’s wood glue, which has a certification as ULEF (Ultra Low Emitting Formaldehyde). This makes the wood glue safe for the eyes and lungs.

3. Scratch, Adhesion, and Abrasion Test

A wood product’s finish is a sign of quality. Kayu Lapis Indonesia’s wood finish endures scratch, adhesion, and abrasion test. This ensures best visual quality and durability against physical threats both from coarse and sharp objects.

4. Flame Retardancy Test

Some of KLI’s products are treated with flame retardant. It makes the product more resistant to flames, making it safer for both indoor & outdoor uses. Through many wood product tests, Kayu Lapis Indonesia is dedicated to establishing layers of sustainable future.
